No matter where you are in your energy journey, ADL can significantly accelerate and ease this transition with our expertise in capital investment programs and delivering operational excellence in large scale energy generation & grids. Our experience spans natural resources, energy availability, climate transition and water / waste management and covers both traditional sectors and adjacent sectors such as mobility and data centres, where a shifts in energy consumption necessitate a fresh perspective to unlock revenue streams and innovation.
As the global shift to decarbonized energy accelerates, decentralized & distributed systems become critical. Renewable energy generation will increasingly reduce reliance on centralized power grids, favoring digitized smart grids that predict & adapt to demand & embrace cleaner, cheaper, better-connected energy sources. Staying abreast of these rapid energy landscape shifts, Arthur D. Little’s sector experts monitor and advise on the implications of these shifts across multiple industries, collaborating with progressive organizations to stay ahead of the curve, uncover new opportunities, adopt the latest technologies, forge strategic partnerships, & align strategies to meet new customer demands, positioning them for future growth & improved performance.
Energy, Utilities & Resources sub-practices
OIL, GAS & OTHER NATURAL RESOURCES
Amidst supply constraints and volatile pricing, the oil and gas industry has witnessed both notable gains and periods of unpredictability indicating a significant sectoral transformation. To maintain relevance in this rapidly changing energy landscape, governments and energy companies are tackling pivotal challenges throughout the value chain.
ELECTRIC POWER & ENERGY GRIDS
With rising power demands and an acceleration towards decarbonization, ADL is at the forefront of the energy transition. We support power generators, energy-intensive industries, and utilities with nuclear energy advisory, asset strategies, the transition from fossil fuel to various alternatives and operational flexibility.
WASTE, WATER & CIRCULARITY
As climate action becomes increasingly urgent, waste and water management players need to rethink how they operate and adapt to ensure they can withstand the challenges of an uncertain environment. Whether it’s implementing growth strategies or advising on new technologies; organizing innovative financing or developing partnerships between governments and across the public and private sectors – we can help you create the resilient, secure waste and water systems you need to thrive in a world facing dramatic change.
Energy Efficiency & Climate Solutions
With societal, economic and regulatory pressures mounting, the need for energy efficiency has reached new heights. Whether you are an energy player, a new mobility company or an established infrastructure provider, we design innovative products and services that address your customer challenges end-to-end. And by developing and implementing new clean energy solutions, we help energy players to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and to launch new business models to serve their customers better.
Energy transactions
We support infrastructure and private equity investors in understanding climate change solutions, identifying attractive companies, conducting commercial due diligence and realizing the full value potential of a portfolio company through a successful exit.
OIL, PETROCHEMICALS & WATER: FINDING A NEW EQUILIBRIUM
Water is a vital resource for human life — and for many industrial processes. Water scarcity is a growing global trend, exacerbated by climate change and increasing demand. As major users of water, how can the oil refining and petrochemical sectors improve water management, guarantee supply, and protect the local environment? This Viewpoint explains the current context and outlines strategies to meet the industry’s current and future water challenges.
DECARBONIZING INDUSTRIAL HEAT TO FACE CLIMATE CHANGE
Decarbonizing industrial heat consumption is crucial to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change. Currently, the top five heat-demanding industries in the EU — chemical & petrochemical; nonmetallic minerals; food, beverage & tobacco; paper pulp, paper & graphic arts; and iron & steel — account for more than 80% of heat consumption and urgently need decarbonization strategies.
THE RACE TO SMART HOME ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Amidst the uncertainties and challenges of today’s energy market, home energy management systems (HEMS) can offer value to end users by addressing unmet needs and emerging pain points such as energy consumption optimization, automation, and affordability of energy bills, while allowing companies to diversify and/or enhance their value proposition. The latter has already motivated companies within and outside the traditional energy ecosystem to investigate the opportunity. In this Viewpoint, we explain why companies must act now to convince customers of the importance of HEMS and how they can secure their position within the value chain.
THE BUZZ ABOUT ENERGY DATA & WHERE TO FIND IT
Increased electrification across society to meet climate targets, paired with European and local legislation, has put pressure on every level of the grid, while creating opportunities for existing and new market players.
ORGANIZATIONAL TRANSFORMATION WITH AMM
The importance of metering in utility systems cannot be overstated. It is the critical process through which end customers are billed for their energy consumption and/or production.
